APEL Certificate in Work with Children (Level 3)in Playwork or Early Years
Transitional Modules: Level 3 Playwork into Early Years or Early Years into Playwork
NVQ Playwork Level 2 or Cache Certificate in Playwork
To enable participants to develop confidence and competence in
working with young people aged 0-16.
For those working supervised in a playsetting the course provides;
An understanding of play and playwork through exploring playwork
theory and reflecting on practice
A qualification to work as a playworker working under supervision
Valuable knowledge training to support students in gaining this level 2 qualification recognised by Ofsted
For NVQ we provide 12 taught sessions (Newhaven or Chiddingly venue) plus monthly support sessions but assessment is mainly focused on proving competence in the workplace. Most students will already have a placement or you may be helped to find a voluntary placement. Sessions are optional but those who attend find they complete faster. The course takes approximately 1 year to complete (roll-on, roll-off programme)
The Cache Certificate is classroom based, 19 taught sessions which are mandatory but 60 hours practical experience will be required. Assessment is through two 2000 word assignments. (Minimum of 6 students)
To provide playworkers with a national qualification at a supervisory level
Playworkers/supervisors who are working in or who have significant access to opportunities to work in a senior, co-ordinating or supervisory role within a play setting. All candidates should have a Level 2 qualification in Playwork except inder exceptional circumstances.

This is for Managers of a Playsetting with considerable experience. You should have your NVQ Playwork Level 3.
APEL Certificate in Work with Children (Level 3) - in Playwork or Early Years
This is a fast track Level 3 qualification for all those in Early Years or Playwork who have considerable experience at a Supervisory level (5 years) and have professional witnesses to back up their work. Assessment is through 10 Reflective Accounts which will be submitted to City and Guilds. You will have a mentor who will guide you through the process. This may be undertaken at any time.
Transitional Modules: Level 2 Playwork into Early Years or Early Years into Playwork
This is for Early Years Practitioners or Playworkers who already have a Level 3 qualification either in Early Years or Playwork and who wish to cross over into the other skill-sector. You will not have to do another full NVQ. This award is classroom based but you will be required to do 60 hours practice. There are two modules assessed by assignment based on reflective practice. (Minimum of 6 students)
